The 2026 AAO Institutional Issues Forum is back and presented by Archives Ontario in collaboration with the AAO. The title of the event is “Diversifying our Collections: From Custodianship to Relationships.” This one-day symposium will be held in-person at the Archives of Ontario. A portion of this event, the First Nation's Principles of OCAP workshop, will be made available for virtual attendance from 12:45pm-1:45pm on November 25, 2026.
As we move beyond traditional archives to become institutions that preserve memory, we need to redefine what constitutes records and how we include different systems of knowledge in our holdings. Archivists are being challenged to accept records that take forms beyond paper and microfilm, where meaning and knowledge look different. Archival institutions are considering what records truly capture the diverse histories of all people, what is sacred, and what should be remembered. How can we adapt our systems to be more inclusive, and what constitutes a record worth saving?
To attend the virtual First Nation's Principles of OCAP workshop ONLY register here
