An Introduction to Digital Archives
*The Archives Bootcamp series consists of workshops tailored to emerging archival professionals. This is the second of two workshops being co-presented this spring.
This half-day introductory-level workshop will provide participants with the basics of establishing a digital archives program with the capability to grow and adapt to changes in technology. Topics covered will include basic terms and concepts, moving digital files to the archival environment, the different types of metadata and its importance, available software and tools for digital preservation, and the steps to take between acquiring digital records and making them available.
When: June 3rd, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT
Where: Online. Instructions to join the online platform will be sent closer to the workshop date.
Cost*: $80 (AAO members), $50 (AAO student members), $120 (non-members)
About the instructor:
Dylan Bremner is the Digital Archivist for the City of Edmonton Archives. When he isn't immersed in digital preservation work, he likes to volunteer with the Alberta Ghostbusters, benefiting children's charities in the province.
