The AAO is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Archeion Authority Record Policy. This policy outlines the minimum requirements for authority records in Archeion and is effective June 1, 2023. This policy applies to Archeion authority records created after June 1, 2023 and is intended to guide contributing Archeion institutions in working toward standardisation for authority record entries in Archeion. Existing authority records created before June 1, 2023, are not required to be modified by Archeion institutions.
Access Archeion authority records. Standardisation and common formatting of authority records will improve navigation and information retrieval within Archeion. The policy will directly contribute to the Archives Association of Ontario’s goal of promoting professional standards, procedures, and practices among archival repositories. The Archeion Coordinator is available to support member institutions with any questions regarding the policy. Member institutions are invited to provide feedback about the policy. The policy will be reviewed annually.
You can view the policy in the About Archeion web page under “Archeion Policies”.
Institutional members are also invited to join the Archeion Coordinator at the Monday, June 5, 2023, Archeion Support Zoom Drop In to discuss the new policy and other general authority record questions. Please contact the Archeion Coordinator if your institution has not received the Zoom link to the drop ins, scheduled every Monday at noon until August 28, 2023.
