Happy almost summer, AAO members! It was a busy month of AAO-related activities culminating in what was a thoughtful and productive annual conference. In this month’s newsletter, we take a moment to catch our collective breath, welcome the newest AAO Board Members, and profile a new AAO student member.- Tys Klumpenhouwer and MacKenzie Gott, Editors.
AAO News
a. 2022 Conference Complete!
Congratulations and a big thank you to the 2022 Conference organizers and participants for contributing to another engaging and informative program!
b. Annual General Meeting Roundup
The Annual General Meeting (AGM), held on the Friday of the conference, saw the election of two new Board Members. Congratulations to Sarah McDougall, who is taking over as Vice President/President Elect, and Leslie Thomas, who will serve as Director Without Portfolio.
A big thank you to our outgoing board members, particularly AAO President Krista McCracken who will continue to serve as Past-President.
We would also like to congratulate Charly Wreggitt, who has been elected to the role of Chapter/Special Interest Group (SIG) Stakeholder for 2022-2023 by the Chapters and SIGs of the AAO.
c. AAO Annual Awards
One of the most exciting portions of the AGM was the announcement of the AAO’s Annual Awards. Big congratulations to all of the recipients! The winners of this year’s awards are the following:

- The AAO Emerging Leader Award was presented to James Roussain.
- The Alexander Fraser Award was presented to Iona McCraith.
- The AAO Institutional Award was presented to the Lambton County Archives for its project “Remembering Lambton County’s 2010 Snow Emergency and the Middlesex Centre Archives.
Student/New Professional Spotlight (SNPC)
This month we meet Huilin (Irene) Xiong, who just finished her studies at the University of Toronto, graduating in 2022 with a Master of Information in the Archives and Records Management path. Read the student profile here.
