ARCHIVES AWARENESS WEEK 2026 |
The Archives Association of Ontario has designated April 7-10, 2026 as Archives Awareness Week (AAW).
As our province and our country faces tough financial times and a shift towards austerity, there is an increasing need to show the vital role that archives play in preserving our history and protecting democracy. Therefore, our theme for 2026 is: "Archives Activism: Advocating for Archives Survival”. Now is the time to collectively raise our voices and advocate for archives. This week is your opportunity to celebrate the creative ways you speak up and out for your repository and for archives in general. Explore our Archives Awareness Week page to learn more about the submissions we plan to feature on our website and socials, discover AAW events, and print our poster to feature your own AAW events! |

#ArchivesAtoZ is back! This April you’re invited to take part in this community-building and archives-celebrating social media campaign. Join the Archives of Ontario as we share content using a letter in the alphabet to spark creative posts about archives! The campaign will run throughout the month of April, including Archives Awareness Week (April 7 – 10).
Below is a bilingual calendar of proposed dates and terms that you’re welcome to use for inspiration. Tag us and we’ll re-post and share your content on our channels!
If you have any questions, please email Ashton Osmak (Outreach Officer at the Archives of Ontario) at ashtonosmak@ontario.ca. We look forward to seeing everyone comes up with this year!
