Selecting software and hardware is essential to digital preservation work in archives, but determining what tools are worth the investment can be challenging. This discussion, facilitated by the AAO’s Digital Access and Preservation Committee, provides an opportunity to share information, ask questions, and explore what digital preservation tools archivists in Ontario are using and how they are using them.
We’ll begin by exploring existing community resources for assessing and comparing software tools. Facilitators will then demo commonly used open-source tools for digital preservation workflows before opening the floor for participants to ask questions and share tools they find useful for working with digital records.
As takeaway, we will compile a list of locally-used digital archiving tools and expertise to serve as a foundation for an AAO community-supported resource.
